remove short cut virus

Have you ever noticed that sometimes after attaching your Pendrive to the PC all the folders of your Pendrives convert itself into a shortcut icons of those particular folders? Yes, this is the most common problem everyone is facing with their USB drives. This is nothing but a kind of virus which is there to harm your PC and so your USB drive’s data. here, we would be guiding you how you can manually remove or delete such Shortcut Virus from Pendrives and memory cards.


our drive is just showing as shortcuts in Windows (as shown in the above figure).

     This problem may cause not only in pen drives, also in memory sticks, phone memories, external hard disks etc. If we trying to open those folders Windows will show an error that “Shortcut missing…!” We afraid of losing our data and somebody format the drive. But no need to afraid for this and format. Yes, this is a type of virus affection. Just follow the simple steps to remove that shortcuts and retrieve your folders back.


Steps are very easy

•  First of all Click on Start >> Run >> and type cmd and click on OK.
• Here I assume your pen drive letter as G: 
• Enter this command.
•  attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
• You can copy the above command >>  Right click in the Command Prompt and paste it. 

Note : Don't forget to replace the letter g with your pen drive letter.

•          Now press Enter 

     That’s it!

Close all the running program and remove Pendrive from the PC. Re-attach Pendrive again, there would be no such viruses anymore on your USB Drive.
